Nutrition programs should prioritize profitability over feed ingredient costs.
Feed4Profit enables nutritionists to develop a soybean meal feed formulation to optimize profitability.

To help nutritionists determine the best feed formulation to maximize profitability, ISU researchers developed a dynamic, web-based model, Feed4Profit, which integrates feed formulation, predicted pig performance models, and economic forecasting into a single system. Users can compare the value of different feeding programs over time, dynamically adjusting ingredient costs and market prices to estimate future profits.

This “one-stop shop” approach integrates the key factors in swine production profitability—diet formulations, predicted growth performance, and future pricing for feed ingredients and pigs—into nutritional strategy development, enabling faster and more responsive decision-making for greater profitability.

"By helping nutritionists simulate real-world scenarios, [Feed4Profit] aims to improve decision-making under volatile market conditions and enables producers to respond more strategically to changing economics."
